MUMBAI, September 10, 2026 – The New Development Bank (NDB) today launched the BRICS-NDB Knowledge Portal (BNKP), a digital platform designed to consolidate and share the knowledge and good practices from across BRICS Working Groups and NDB’s operations to promote innovation, strengthen South-South cooperation, and advance sustainable development.
H.E. Mrs. Dilma Rousseff, President of the New Development Bank, inaugurated the BNKP at the Second Meeting of BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG), held under India’s chairship in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
“BRICS-NDB Knowledge Portal seeks to institutionalise knowledge, technical work and good practices across BRICS cooperation. Our countries have rich experiences to share – from open-source Al to clean energy, from infrastructure to digital and financial platforms,” said H.E. Mrs. Dilma Rousseff, NDB President.
The knowledge portal delivers on a vision reaffirmed by BRICS Leaders in successive Summit Declarations, including the 2023 Johannesburg II Declaration, which encouraged NDB “to play an active role in knowledge sharing process”, and the 2024 Kazan Declaration, which called for “the enhancement of capacity building and knowledge exchange”.
“The Portal will serve as a valuable repository of technical work and best practices across BRICS Finance Track workstreams, while strengthening NDB’s role in sharing developmental impact across the Global South,” said H.E. Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance, the Republic of India, NDB Governor for India.
The proposal for the BNKP was first introduced at the first BRICS Finance and Central Bank Deputies meeting on 26 February 2026 and received broad support at the first Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting on 13 August 2026, marking its formal endorsement by BRICS.
NDB will develop and operate the BNKP in collaboration with successive BRICS Chairships, continuously enriching it with knowledge, innovations, and development experiences that can help address shared development challenges across BRICS and the Global South.
