Securing South Africa’s Future: Advancing Energy Stability Through Sectoral Innovation and Reform

Cape Town, South Africa
August 31, 2024

South Africa is currently facing a significant energy challenge that has cascading effects on its economic growth, industrial productivity, and overall quality of life. Power outages, supply shortages and an unstable electricity grid have become prevalent issues that pose a challenge to the nation’s developmental agenda. Towards a sustainable energy future, the South African government has introduced a series of interventions and energy sector reforms.

In this context, the experiences of fellow BRICS member states, having already embarked on energy sector reforms, offers valuable lessons and insights.
