Yuxi, Yunnan Province, designated in 2025 as China’s only production- and service-oriented national logistics hub in the province, is an international gateway connecting China with Southeast Asia via the China–Laos Railway and major highways.
At its core is the Yunnan Yuxi International Logistics Port — a multimodal hub integrating rail, road, cold chain, cross-border logistics, and regional distribution. NDB is considering a loan to address critical infrastructure gaps at the Port and strengthen the efficiency and capacity of its logistics services.
As part of the project preparation, NDB convened a workshop in Yuxi on March 12, 2026, with sector experts, logistics operators, and international organisations to exchange best practices on low-carbon port planning, design, and operations — putting knowledge to work in direct support of project preparation.
The findings of the workshop included the following:
- Zero-carbon and low-carbon logistics infrastructure is achievable with currently available technologies.
- Green logistics investments deliver attractive returns through energy savings, operational efficiency, and asset value enhancement.
- Success requires combining renewable energy, energy efficiency, digitalisation, circular economy principles, and advanced technologies.
Regulatory drivers and financial incentives accelerate adoption and scale. - Multi-stakeholder coordination among governments, businesses, financial institutions, and technology providers is essential.
