On May 16, 2025, the New Development Bank (NDB) warmly welcomed H.E. Gustavo Petro Urrego, President of Colombia; H.E. Laura Sarabia, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, and H.E. Germán Ávila Plazas, Minister of Finance and Public Credit of Colombia at its Headquarters in Shanghai.
The high-level delegation was received by H.E. Mrs. Dilma Rousseff, NDB President, who expressed her sincere appreciation for Colombia’s interest in joining the Bank.
The visit provided an opportunity to explore avenues of potential cooperation between NDB and Colombia, including in areas of infrastructure, climate action and sustainable development.
During the visit, President of Colombia presented the Letter of Application addressed to the Board of Governors of the New Development Bank to join the Bank as a new member.
