More About This Project
The gas supply system in several districts of Dhaka division (Dhaka, Manikganj, Tangail and Gazipur districts) and Mymensingh division (Mymensingh district) face challenges related to insufficient gas supply, frequent operational failures and increasing operation and maintenance expenditures. At the same time, these areas are important for the country because of a high concentration of industrial centers that drive Bangladesh’s economic growth.
To address these challenges, Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Public Limited Company has designed the Project which will improve the gas supply transmission and distribution infrastructure in the Project areas to meet the existing and growing gas demand.
The Project will include (i) replacement of the existing distribution lines with higher diameter pipes, as well as construction of new pipelines; and (ii) building new and enhancing the capacity of the existing gas stations in the Project area.
The Project will also include implementation of digital solutions to improve project management and capacity building activities.
The Project aims to improve gas supply from 809 to 1,587 million cubic feet per day, reduce operational failure incidences, and decrease CO2 emissions by: i) replacing existing gas pipelines along the Joydebpur-Mymensingh and Dhaka-Tangail highways according to the needs of current and future customers, including safety and proper maintenance aspects; and ii) constructing new gas pipelines to increase gas supply capacity and reduce insufficient pressure situations in Tangail, Manikganj, Saturia, Aricha, Dhamrai, Savar, and adjoining industrial areas.
