Valery Gergiev Visited the NDB and Spoke to Bank’s Management and Staff
Valery Gergiev, world famous Russian conductor, general director and artistic director of the Mariinsky Theatre met today with the NDB management and staff at the Bank’s Transitional Office in Shanghai.
The NDB President Mr. K.V.Kamath warmly welcomed Mr. Valery Gergiev and thanked him for finding time from his busy tour schedule for visiting the NDB. “We strongly support expanding cultural cooperation between the Bank’s members in addition to what we at the NDB do day to day, which is economic development,” said Mr. K.V.Kamath.
In his speech, Mr. Valery Gergiev highlighted the importance of investing in culture and protecting sites of outstanding cultural importance, shared his impressions of Shanghai’s rapid growth and touched upon the importance of ensuring children’s access to cultural objects such as concert halls.
As one of the greatest conductors in the world, Mr. Valery Gergiev collaborates with the finest orchestras. The Mariinsky Theatre under Mr. Valery Gergiev gives some seven hundred and sixty performances each season in Russia and abroad.
