Mr. Sarquis J. B. Sarquis has held several positions at the Brazil’s Ministry of External Relations since 1991, among which Head of International Economic Organizations and Adviser on international finance, investment, trade and development. More recently, he has been Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy in Tokyo (2014-2017) and, previously, he was Minister-Counsellor for economic and OECD affairs at the Embassy in Paris (2009-2014).
He has accumulated extensive experience in working with multilateral organizations, including the OECD, the IMF, the World Bank, the WTO and the United Nations. He has also lectured, researched and participated in major international conferences in the fields of macroeconomics, growth, trade and international finance.
He received his MSc and PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics (LSE) and holds a BSc in Electronic Engineering from the Polytechnic School of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He was granted research prizes, such as the Gilbert de Botton Award in Finance Research.
